The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko’s latest quarterly report to the Minister for Energy, Simon Watts, shows all the mahi we have been delivering for consumers from 1 July to 30 September 2025.
Highlights from the last quarter include:
- our consumer mobility roadmap of changes to give consumers more choice, more control and better value for their power
- giving consumers more control over their power use and costs through time-of-use retail plans and distributor rebates
- new rules to make it easier and faster to connect to the electricity network, to get more power into the grid and reduce costs
- proposals to level the playing field so independent generators and retailers can better compete with the gentailers
- a new generation investment dashboard to support market confidence and investment decisions in new power generation
- a new data & insights hub on our website to provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ for the latest electricity market data, tools and insights – a key part of our role as a data-driven regulator
- bringing the Electricity Industry Participation Code online to make it more user-friendly and easier to access for everyone.
The report also sets out progress against our Statement of performance expectations 2025/26 to ensure affordable, reliable electricity for New Zealand consumers now and in the future.
All 17 of our performance measures and all 12 strategic activities – which show how we are working to deliver a secure and resilient, affordable and efficient electricity system for the long-term benefit of consumers – are on track after the first quarter of the financial year.
