Register for collaborative workshops on improving access to electricity data

  • Consumers
  • Retail

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is seeking input on the design and structure of two of our Electricity Information Exchange Protocols (EIEP).

EIEPs facilitate the exchange of electricity information between retailers and third parties. The Authority is reviewing two of these (EIEP13 – consumption information, and EIEP14 –product information) to standardise how electricity information is shared between parties.

We are inviting data holders (such as retailers and metering equipment providers), as well as existing users of the EIEPs (particularly those who regularly request and utilise electricity data to provide customer services) to participate in a series of online workshops to inform the design of these new standards and protocols.

Have your say – register your interest in our workshops

The Authority will host a series of workshops, facilitated by the Middleware group, where industry participants, data users and consumer service providers can input into how electricity data is shared.

Contributors will be asked to commit to nine online workshops: two in November, three in December, two in January and two in February. Each session will run for two hours, with one hour of preparation required beforehand.

The workshops will be held online and use collaborative digital tools to support feedback and discussion.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to help shape the future of electricity data sharing.

To register your interest, please email consumer.mobility@ea.govt.nz by 5pm, Wednesday 12 November 2025.

Invitations will be sent by 14 November, with the first workshop starting 20 November.

These workshops are part of our work to improve consumer mobility through improving access to data: Enabling consumer mobility by improving access to electricity product data.
