Airihi Mahuika appointed GM Legal, Monitoring and Compliance

The Electricity Authority is pleased to announce Airihi Mahuika has been appointed the General Manager Legal, Monitoring and Compliance.

Airihi has extensive experience in infrastructure regulation (telecommunications and electricity) and competition law across private and public sector roles.

Airihi’s experience in electricity stems back to her early career with a role at the Commerce Commission and then with the Electricity Commission in 2004-05.

Since then, Airihi has worked at Telecom (before Spark) as part of the Competition and Regulatory legal team, followed by leadership roles at Chorus and ACC.

Airihi is currently on contract as Special Counsel, Projects, at Waka Kotahi.

We are delighted to have someone of Airihi’s depth of experience and calibre to join the leadership team.

Airihi starts at the Electricity Authority on Monday 22 May 2023.

Chief Executive Sarah Gillies continues to build the Authority’s leadership team and intends to announce additional permanent appointments over the next few months.
