Cross-submissions invited on instantaneous reserve cost allocation

  • Generation
  • Code

The Electricity Authority is now accepting cross-submissions on proposed changes for instantaneous reserve costs allocation.

We are proposing to amend the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 to update the way instantaneous reserve procurement costs are allocated to generators.

The initial consultation period closed on Friday 23 August and submissions have been published. We are expecting a late submission from Contact Energy which will be published on Wednesday morning, 28 August.

Cross-submissions should address our proposed changes to the cost allocation methodology requiring more generators to pay an appropriate share of the instantaneous reserve procurement costs, both now and in the future.

Cross-submissions should be sent to operationsconsult@ea.govt.nz by 5pm, Friday 30 August.
