The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko has decided to discontinue an investigation into an alleged breach of the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 by Transpower New Zealand Limited as the grid owner.

A fault on the Waverly feeder caused the power to trip on three circuit breakers in May 2022. The grid owner self-reported the breach in November 2023.

The Authority reviewed the investigator’s report on the alleged breach, which concluded that the grid owner had not breached its grid protection responsibilities under the Code during the May 2022 event.

After careful consideration of the investigator’s report, the Authority has decided to discontinue this investigation.
