Information session for retailers on new mandatory reporting under the Retail Market Monitoring notice

  • Retail

We invite retailers to our information session where we will answer your questions ahead of the first report which is due on 31 August 2025.

The session will be held virtually on Thursday 31 July 10.30-12.00pm. A link to join online will be sent out to all participants.

We encourage retailers to send us questions or topic areas that would help you by 5pm on Tuesday 15 July 2025. Please email the dedicated inbox: retaildata@ea.govt.nz. Please be specific and provide as much detail as possible which will make it easier for us to address your questions at the session. We will also provide an update on the latest FAQs.

To attend, please RSVP to retaildata@ea.govt.nz and we will send you further details.

We have introduced mandatory retailer reporting of domestic and small business customer data to help increase transparency and accountability in New Zealand’s retail electricity market. Retailers will need to submit data from 1 January to 31 July 2025 (inclusive) under the new retail market monitoring clause 2.16 notice on or before 31 August 2025 to the Authority. Following this, data will need to be submitted on a monthly basis.
