New rules for connection pricing: updated FAQs and guidance
- Distribution
- Prices
We’ve updated two resources that support distributors to implement new rules that improve pricing methodologies for connecting to the network.
Most of the new rules, announced in July 2025, are to be applied to quotes for connecting to the distribution network for load applications received from 1 April 2026.
1. Frequently asked questions
We’ve added further information to our Frequently Asked Questions webpage.
The new information is based on questions we received during our online Q&A session held on 9 October 2025 and by email. The video recording of the Q&A session is available online.
2. Updated guidance document
In August 2025, we released the first iteration of guidance documents to support distributors implementing the new requirements. One guidance document has been updated with minor edits to reflect the Code – which was finalised in September after we consulted on the drafting – and to correct minor errors and improve clarity. None of the updates change the policy intent.
To highlight the changes, we’ve included a marked-up version of the original document, alongside the updated version.

All guidance documents to support implementing these new rules are available in the ‘Resources’ section of the Distribution connection pricing reform webpage. We may need to update these resources further as we engage with distributors over the coming months.
