  • Policy

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko (Authority) is calling for nominations for the Electricity Authority Advisory Group (EAAG). The Authority established the EAAG last year to provide independent advice on our work programme and help us better understand the impact of our work on consumers and stakeholders.

We encourage nominations from people with experience and insight into the needs of communities and industry. This includes community energy networks or kaupapa Māori groups and collectives, independent power producers, established industry members, small to mid-sized commercial and industrial energy users and innovators enabling novel solutions to meet our energy needs.

We invite anyone who might be keen to contribute to the EAAG kaupapa to complete and return the nomination form by 6pm Thursday, 1 May 2025 to EAAG@ea.govt.nz.

The following principles guide the advisory group’s operation:

  • Members are selected for their individual and independent expertise and experience – not as representatives of their employer or part of the sector.
  • Appointments are made between one to three years with rolling expiry dates across the group.
  • Members will have varying views and perspectives given their experience in the industry and/or with consumer impact.
  • Once appointed to the group, members have the opportunity to contribute to relevant pieces of work and other cohort discussions in line with their experience and expertise. Not all members need to participate in all activities.
  • The group operates according to a terms of reference, in line with the Charter for Advisory Groups.
