We sought feedback from industry on a proposed Code amendment to enable the system operator's Dispatch Service Enhancement (DSE) project. The project was aimed at replacing the ageing Generator Communication or GenCo system which was identified as being both out-of-date and a barrier to entry into the market.

In order to enable the commencement of the project, there were a number of Code amendments that were required, to ensure flexibility and development of new systems to replace GenCo. We proposed that GenCo would no longer be an approved system of dispatch software from the end of 2020.

We decided to amend the Code on 14 August 2018; read our decision paper.
